EDP committed to innovation and energy efficiency at the Trade Fair

Thursday 02, August 2018

EDP is present at the 62nd International Trade Fair of Asturias, taking place between 4 and 19 August at the Luis Adaro Fairground, in Gijón.

Technological innovations for the home, an Escape Room, interactive games and workshops and activities for the kids. These are some of the proposals EDP presents at the 62nd International Trade Fair of Asturias, taking place between 4 and 19 August at the Luis Adaro Fairground in Gijón.

The main purpose is to bring visitors the latest innovations and services focused on energy efficiency for the home, as well as the most modern leisure proposals.

Under the motto "From one, you will have to escape. From the other, you won't want to leave", EDP hopes visitors discover the two houses built inside the pavilion, this year generating a total of 70 jobs.

One of the houses is linked to the smart home, with interactive games that allow you to discover the advantages of solar energy, electric mobility and services Funciona and re:dy. All this integrated in an intelligent house that uses these functionalities and services in an efficient way.

Funciona is the only dual service on the market and guarantees annual revisions of electrical and gas installations of the home, as well as emergency care, maintenance and repair of boilers and malfunctions of household appliances. In Asturias, EDP has more than 165,000 contracts for this service.

For its part, re:dy is a service allowing monitoring and management of energy consumption in the home. Actions can be taken from mobile devices and from anywhere, such as turning on appliances, simulating presence in the home by turning on the lighting or raising and lowering the temperature of the thermostat. It also gives information about energy consumption in real time.

The Escape Room is presented as the main attraction of the Trade Fair. Visitors, who can participate in groups of up to 6 people, will be the protagonists of a game in which they must fulfill a mission: to escape from the house in a limited time. For this they will have to solve riddles, find objects and face visual challenges.

Both houses are inside the pavilion, where there is also a commercial area for visitors to get information and contract the services and energy products of the company. The tour of the pavilion ends in the points zone, where EDP customers can check and exchange their points for gifts.

EDP also presents this year at the Trade Fair the 'edponline' mobile application, available for free for both Android and iOS devices. With this application, customers can manage their contracts from mobile devices.

Outside the pavilion there are several activities, especially for children, with a racing circuit with electric remote-controlled cars, workshops and inflatables.

Also outside, visitors can learn about the advantages of solar energy and electric vehicles. There will be an exhibition with photovoltaic solar panels and a vehicle. In addition, thanks to the agreement between EDP and BMW, there are test drives available.

Contest on social media

EDP launched a contest in its Facebook and Twitter profiles, in three stages, for which it is delivering up to 1,000 free tickets for the Fair, which can be made effective any day.

The first two actions consist in responding to the publications that EDP published about the Trade Fair, in which it invites users to send photos of "relics" and objects from previous editions. This is an action linked to the advertising campaign that the energy company has launched this year in Spain, under the slogan "Choose the energy you want to be."

During the Fair the third action will take place. Those who visit the site and take a photo in the EDP pavilion can get free tickets if they share it in EDP's profiles.

The historical presence of EDP at the Trade Fair reflects one of EDP's main values, its closeness to people, and at the same time reinforces the company's commitment to Asturias.
