To be used by the staff of Fundación Princesa during the week of the awards

Fundación Princesa de Astur already has six electric vehicles for their trips during the week of the Awards. The director of the Fundación EDP, Nicanor Fernández, delivered the vehicles to the director of Fundación Princesa de Astur, Teresa Sanjurjo, in an act that took place at the Hotel de la Reconquista, in Oviedo.

It consists of four 100% electric vehicles and two plug-in hybrids (electric and petrol). Recharges of the batteries will be carried out in the points that EDP has installed in Asturias, both in its facilities and in public spaces.

To date, EDP innaugurated 52 recharging points for electric vehicles in public spaces in the region, a broad recharging infrastructure that responds to the needs of users of this type of vehicle. In addition, it has more than 20 points inside its facilities.

To recharge in these points there are two options: use the EDP sustainable mobility card, which users can request through the website www.edpmoveon.com, or the mobile app - currently for Android devices.

Through the web or the mobile application you can also know the location of the points, the distance to them and their availability, among other features.

The use of the electric vehicle has many associated environmental and economic advantages. On the one hand, its use does not imply CO2 emissions or noise pollution. On the other hand, the efficiency of these vehicles is three times higher than that of combustion and, as for the price of recharging, the savings reach up to 80% compared to diesel. With 1.5 euros you can travel 100 kilometers.

The cession of these vehicles reinforces the close relationship between the Princess of Asturias Foundation and the EDP Foundation, at the same time that it reflects the firm commitment of both entities to achieve a common sustainable development.

With the transfer of these six vehicles, the Fundación Princesa de Astur reaffirms its firm commitment, acquired in 2011, to compensate and reduce the carbon footprint produced during the week of the awards. This action is in addition to the collaboration with the Ecology and Development Foundation (ECODES), which has awarded the CeroCO2 label for the seventh consecutive year.
