The internship program of Fundación EDP, Internships Martín González del Valle, is already underway. It involves 155 students of the University of Oviedo, of more than 30 specialties, who joined EDP to undertake training practices during the 2018-2019 academic year.

The reception of the students took place in the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (Facultad de Formación del Profesorado y Educación), in Oviedo. The program was presented by the vice-rector of Students of the University of Oviedo, Elisa Miguélez, and the executive director of Fundación EDP, Vanda Martins.

During the reception ceremony, the students got to know the activities of the EDP Group and the policies it develops in areas such as information security, the environment and the prevention of occupational risks. In addition, students got to know the destinations in which they will develop their practices this course, which cover the different areas and facilities of the company.

Fundación EDP allocates one million euros to this training program. After the period of application for internships, in September, the University of Oviedo selected these 155 students from more than 30 specialties from the different Faculties and Schools, as well as students who are studying a university master's degree. Among the degrees are Electrical Engineering, Commerce and Marketing, Chemistry, Economics or Law.
Each scholarship lasts for six months. The practices are developed under the supervision of tutors, who train the students. For the vast majority, joining EDP is their first contact with the world of work.

In addition to the agreement with the University of Oviedo, Fundación EDP has agreements with other universities and schools to promote the training of students in the facilities and work centers that the company has in other communities. This year 35 students will join the work centers of Madrid, Cantabria, Basque Country, Andalusia, Murcia, Galicia, Aragon, Navarre and Valencian Community.

The objective of the Fundación EDP internship program is to facilitate practical training in EDP for students of the University of Oviedo. It is the most outstanding practice plan of the University, as well as one of the most important initiatives developed by the Foundation itself. Since its launch in 1984, more than 100 people who participated in the program have joined the staff of the EDP Group in Spain.

In addition to the internship program, the energy company supports Dual FP. In July, and after the adhesion of EDP to the Dual Professional Training program of the Principality of Asturias, 17 students of different specialties were incorporated to carry out training practices.
