In collaboration of Fundación EDP, the activity was organized by the Fishermen's Association Fuentes del Narcea

The students of the Penlés Center for the Support of the Disabled participated in the release of 2,000 trout in the Narcea River. The activity, in collaboration of Fundación EDP, was organized by the Fishermen's Association Fuentes del Narcea. It is the sixth year that the students of this center join this initiative, which this time took place in the area of ??Los Nogales, opposite the Roman Bridge of Cangas del Narcea. In addition, the students got to know the characteristics of these trout from the hand of the Fishermen's Association. The president of the Association of Fishermen Fuentes del Narcea, Román Herrero, said that "this type of activities raises awareness among people and society about the importance of repopulations in our rivers, because they allow the aquatic ecosystem to be conserved and kept in the more optimal conditions. The specimens that we introduce are wild and have the purest genetics of the Atlantic Arc." The fry has been bred in the fish farm that the association has in Villajur - Regla de Naviego. They are the last ones with which Narcea repopulates this year. In total they have released 50,000 trout. In addition, and for the first time, the association has released 7,000 salmon, also reared in its facilities. The Association of Fishermen Fuentes del Narcea has been participating in the repopulation of the Asturian rivers for more than ten years, complying with the government calendar of the Principality of Asturias. It has the collaboration of Fundación EDP, whose commitment to fish repopulations has extended to other Asturian rivers for more than a decade, with the support of the Royal Asturian Association of River Fishing.
