The Government of Asturias and Radio Televisión del Principado (RTPA) today presented the documentary "El parque humano", by director Tom Fernández, commemorating the centenary of the declaration of the Picos de Europa National Park. The audiovisual production, which will be broadcasted on regional television before the end of the year, shows the richness and environmental diversity of the protected area, as well as numerous testimonies from its inhabitants who for generations have helped shape its landscape.

The documentary, from which you can see the promohere, is framed in the collaboration agreement between the regional government and EDP and Liberbank, by virtue of which both participate as main sponsors of the celebrations of the three events linked to Covadonga that coincide this year: the centenary of the declaration of the park of Picos, a century of the canonical coronation of the Virgin and the 1,300 years of the origins of the Kingdom of Asturias.

The counselor of the Presidency and Citizen Participation, Guillermo Martínez, participated this morning in the presentation ceremony together with the Minister of Infrastructure, Territorial Planning and the Environment, Fernando Lastra; the general director of RTPA, Antonio Virgili; The Director of Institutional Relations and Communication of Liberbank, Ana Echenique; the executive director of Fundación EDP, Vanda Martins; and the director of the documentary, Tom Fernández.

"This is a production that brings us closer to the majesty of a centennial national park through high definition images captured at different times of the year, from little-known perspectives and with unpublished plans," said Martinez.

The celebration of Covadonga Centenarios 2018 includes activities articulated in five main areas: cultural events, liturgical celebrations and days, sports events, institutional events and tourism promotion. The importance of the triple anniversary places the focus of attraction on the community and offers a unique opportunity for citizens to expand their knowledge or discover the heritage, historical, cultural and environmental wealth of Asturias.
