Thursday 07, March 2019

The director of Environment, Sustainability, Innovation and Quality of EDP Spain, Yolanda Fernández Montes, will be giving a masterclass in Langreo

Asturias holds the first edition of the project STEM Talent Girl, organized by Talent & Tech Foundation, promoted by the Technological Center CTIC and sponsored by EDP. It is an initiative that aims to encourage the scientific-technological vocation among women, with the goal of inspiring and empowering little girls and adolescents, so that they carry out their professional careers in the STEM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), supervised by women that develop their professional activity in the scientific and technological field.

In Asturias, various masterclasses will take place during different days. The director of Environment, Sustainability, Innovation and Quality of EDP Spain, Yolanda Fernández Montes, will be giving one of the masterclasses, on March 16, in the New Theater La Felguera (Street Inmobiliaria Setsa, Langreo), at 12.00. The registration on www.talent-girl.com is free and general public may join the young students of the program.

Stem Talent Girl offers various types of initiatives that favor entrepreneurship and the identification of feminine talent, related with the mentoring, identification of women’s high capacities and talent, workshops, masterclasses or shadowing sessions – monitoring to experiment first-person real situation in the STEM field-. In this point, EDP will provide 5 mentors from these specialties, so that students may see in the workplace the tasks they perform. Tania Vázquez, Carolina Álvarez, Patricia Ruano, Paula Vallaure and Beatriz Álvarez will be the ones in charge of sharing their professional knowledge and experience, in order to inspire the youngsters.

This project is possible thanks to the participation of different women with a solid career path in this STEM field, and that will spread the importance of this project from their personal experience and with the vocation of inspiring the new feminine talents.
