The 37^thEDP Half Marathon Granada will be held on Saturday, April 27, and will count with EDP’s sponsorship. The race will keep all the attractions that have turned it, the last two years, into the “most beautiful race in the world”, according to its organizers. During the presentation of the race in the Restaurant Juan Ranas, in the viewing-point of San Nicolas, the mayor of Granada, Francisco Cuenca, thanked the energy company for its support, as it has become the main sponsor of the race, and will also give name to the it, and he also stated that “it will be the positive energy of the race”.

Bruno Fernández, Sales Manager of EDP in Andalusia, pointed out that “we want to thank society for all that it gives us, and this is one way to do it. EDP is already present in thirty races all over Spain, and four of them are held in Andalusia.”

Taking part in this race involves being able to run around the Albaycín and the Alhambra. Athletes will run through the Puerta de las Pesas, the viewing-point of San Nicolas, the Carrera del Darro, and go through the Puerta de las Granadas to go deep into the forest of the Alhambra. The beginning of the race is programed to be at 19.30 on April 27, so that the moment the runners are going through the Albayzín and the Alhambra meets the sunset.

Some personalities taking part in the race will be Fermín Cacho, Olympian and Europe’s champion, and World’s runner-up in 1 500 meters; Martín Fiz, World’s and Europe’s champion in marathon, and Winner of the Prince of Asturias Award for Sports, apart from being ambassador of EDP’s Share your energy; and Abel Antón, World’s and Europe’s champion, and Winner of the prince of Asturias Award for Sports.

The EDP Half Marathon Granada will have this year a maximum of 4 500 participants. Registrations are open until Sunday, April 17, and both EDP customers and new ones will be able to enjoy exclusive runner promotions in www.edpmaratones.es
