The Starter Acceleration Program begins this week in Madrid, with the attendance of 10 European companies. It will be the first module in EDP’s international acceleration program, and it seeks to collaborate and promote projects aligned with its innovation strategy, which is based on seven areas: clean energies, client solutions, data analysis, energy storage, intelligent networks, access to energy and innovative internal processes.

The program will have two other modules, in Sao Paulo and Houston, in which emergent companies of the American continent will take part.

The European module takes place between June 18 and 20 at the Impact Hub Piamonte. It will consist of intensive sessions for the companies to meet with professionals in the energy field, receive personalized mentoring and participate in working sessions to perfectionate their energy products and services.

The startups will have the support of professionals from EDP, L Marks, Verbund and Turning Tables, which are specialists in innovation and entrepreneurship projects. Similarly, they will broaden their contact network among the energy sector, and after the module the selected companies will have the opportunity to test their technology innovations, through a pilot project with EDP’s support.

The startups participating in Madrid’s module are developing a wide range of innovations, from customer-oriented solutions to digital proposals, as well as intelligent distribution networks and renewable energy.

•   Hepta (https://heptaairborne.com). Tallinn, Estonia. Drones that offer large distance solutions (hundreds of kilometers), vision sensors and automatized software.

•   Nectaware (www.nectaware.com). Rome, Italy. Predictive software for energy companies and market operators, which reduces costs y provides customers with energy efficiency tools.

•   Meazon (https://meazon.com/). Patras, Greece. Cost-efficient platform for acquiring energy and data sensors (based on their own design of modular counters and controllers) combined with big data analytics.

•   VPPlant (www.vpplant.com). Lodz, Poland. Artificial intelligence applied to energy consumption optimization for commercial buildings.

•   Meteo*swift (www.meteoswift.com). Grenoble, France. Artificial intelligence and meteorology for elaborating wind energy production predictions.

•   OrxaGrid (www.orxagrid.com). London, United Kingdom. Artificial intelligence platform and sensors for intelligent electric networks.

•   Babelus (www.babelus.com). Madrid, Spain. Platform based on the cloud with artificial intelligence that simplifies the location and interaction with suppliers.

•   Barbara IoT (https://barbaraiot.com/). Madrid, Spain. Safe technology for managing the life cycle of the ‘Internet of Things’ devices.

•   LiveEO Berlin (http://live-eo.com/). Berlin, Germany. Satellite data analysis for monitoring large scale infrastructures.

•   Eco-Adapt (www.eco-adapt.com). Paris, France. Predictive maintenance for rotative electric machinery.

Once the three modules -Madrid, Sao Paulo and Houston- are finished, the people in charge of the program will select the most solid projects for taking part in the final, which will take place in the Lisbon Web Summit, in November. The startups will also have a space for showing their products and search for business opportunities.

With the launch of this program, EDP has taken another step towards innovation and entrepreneurship, after the success of the two Acceleration Program Spanish editions, in which more than 20 Spanish startups took part.
