The scholarships are product of the agreement with the University of Oviedo, are remunerated and have a duration of six months

The students from the University of Oviedo taking part in the scholarships program Martín González del Valle have received recognition for their training during this course. The rector of the University of Oviedo, Santiago García Granda, and the director of the EDP Foundation, Vanda Martins, have given them the diplomas that accredit their internships in the energy company. The event has taken place in the Main Hall of the University’s Historical Building.

This year 2018/2019, the EDP Foundation has allocated a million euros to the program, through which 155 scholarships were granted. Students, that began their training in October, carry out their internships in different centers and areas of the company. There are, for example, students in the thermal power plants of Aboño and Soto de Ribera, in the corporate headquarters of Oviedo, in the electrical substation of la Corredoria or in the one in Roces, Gijón.

The EDP Foundation scholarships are product of the agreement with the University of Oviedo, are remunerated and have a duration of six months. During this time, students complete curricular and extracurricular hours. They all have assigned a tutor, that helps them and supervises their work.

This year, students from more than 30 specialties joined, among which Business Administration and different degrees from the Engineering Polytechnic School of Gijón stood out.

This program is the first contact that students have with the entrepreneurial environment. Since day one, they join working groups and take part in different projects.

With this program, EDP reinforced its strong collaboration with the university community, within its commitment to the promotion of talent and knowledge.

Apart from the agreement with the University of Oviedo, the EDP Foundation has also signed agreements with other Spanish universities and schools, in order to favor the students’ education in different facilities and working centers that the company has in other communities. More than 40 students are thus completing their training in Madrid, Cantabria, the Basque Country, Andalusia, Murcia, Galicia, Aragon, Navarre and the Valencian Community.

The scholarship program EDP Foundation aims to facilitate the practical training of students from the University of Oviedo in EDP. It is the most renowned internship plan of the University of Oviedo, as well as one of the most important initiatives from the Foundation itself. Since its launching in 1983, more than 100 people that took part in the program have joined Group EDP’s staff in Spain.
