EDP strives to create sustainable mobility alternatives in Europe

Representatives of the European Comission's Innovation and Network Executive Agency (INEA) visit CIRVE project's EV recharge installations, in which the energy company participates

Representatives for the organism of the European Commission INEA (Innovation and Network Executive Agency) have visited Spain and toured with electric vehicle several areas where CIRVE project charging points are installed. This project, whose acronym corresponds to “Iberian Corridors of Rapid Recharge Infrastructure of Electric Vehicles”, has the participation of EDP Spain, which has acquired the commitment to install 5 recharging points within it.

Those respresentatives for INEA have wanted to visit the CIRVE facilities, which reinforces the ties of European organizations with EDP and other agents of this electric corridor, which is key when it comes to promoting 'green' alternatives to road transport. EDP ​​is committed to increasing the number of charging points in Spain to offer individuals and businesses more services for their electric vehicles.

Connecting the Iberian Peninsula with the other countries of the European Union is the mission of the CIRVE Project, whose acronym stands for "Iberian Corridors of Infrastructure for Fast Charging of Electric Vehicles". Thus, the project contemplates locating 25 new fast recharging points in Spain and adapting another 15 points that are already in operation in certain strategic locations of the Iberian corridors. The project has the support of the Spanish Ministries of Development and Economy, Industry and Competitiveness. The plan is co-financed through the 2015 call of the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF).
