The company Alma Mobility begins a pilot test that expects to offer around 200 cars in the city and that includes a collaborative charging program, which infrastructure in individual households will be developed by EDP.

Saragossa becomes the first city with less than a million inhabitants to enjoy a system of shared electric vehicles that do not require to be parked in a specific point. And it will do it with EDP’s energy, as the company will be providing the recharging points. Alma Mobility’s pilot test begins with 2 electric cars, although it expects to reach 15 by August, 70 by September, and subsequently, it will expand its fleet as the demand increases, until reaching a maximum of 200 vehicles in Saragossa.

The system proposed by Alma Mobility is a shared service of cars without any fixed bases, “free float”. This means that it is neither necessary to park, nor to charge the cars in specific and mandatory points, but that vehicles may be left in any point of the city.

EDP will be in charge of the charging infrastructure linked to certain households, because one of the innovative qualities of this agreement is the development of a collaborative recharge program. It will consist of the creation of a charging network in households, with a previously selected group of users, depending on their place of residence and their work timetables. This will enable to reduce by 70% or 80% the operational costs and electrify the city in the citizens garages.
