EDP takes the biggest vertical public garden in Asturias to the FIDMA

Consisting of more than 3 500 plants that EDP will gift the fair visitors once it ends.

EDP comes back to the International Fair Trade of Asturias with a vertical garden, consisting of more than 3 500 plants. It is the biggest public garden of the region, and it will become the main novelty of the energy company’s pavilion, in the 64th edition of the FIDMA.

With it, the energy company aims to share with the visitors of on of the most important summer events in the region, its new brand narrative: “Changing Tomorrow Now”, with which EDP, that leads the energy transition and generation of 100% green renewable energy, confirms its commitment to be 100% green by 2030, going 20 years ahead of the others.

The vertical garden consists of more than 3 500 phylas and surfinias, flowering plants, the first one evergreen, that have been planted in the last few weeks, at a rate of 400 daily plants. About the modular structure, in order to hold the garden, a system of three-layered recycled geotextile bags has been used, that has a special substrate for vertical gardens, with a fertilizer of slow release for six months. It is a very innovative system, of recent creation.

This garden is more than an allusion to the company’s strategy of being the first 100% green utility by 2030, turning into a symbol of the pavilion and of this ambition, ensuring its duration in time with a system of automatic irrigation, and maintenance twice a week.

Moreover, the last fair day, on August 22, the visitors that wish to, may take to their places one of the plants that decorate this vertical garden, becoming participants of the change that the company promotes towards the energy of the future.
