An initiative that serves as a meeting point for all women who wish to practice this sport as a couple or group

EDP presented today "Sincronizadas", a web platform that unites all women who want to go out in a group, to feel more secure, thus promoting women's sport.

According to data from the recent study carried out by Runners World Magazine Spain in collaboration with EDP, 9 out of 10 women feel insecure when they practice running alone, while almost half of them feel safe when accompanied (44%).

The presentation ceremony was attended by Cristina Mitre, ambassador of the platform, journalist, writer and runner; Carmen Valero, first Spanish athlete woman to participate in a JJOO and Cross World Champion, who also told of the difficulties experienced in the practice of this sport during the 70s; Elena Loyo, international athlete, who has recently reported a case of harassment during training; and Lorena Fanjul, a runner contributing with her experience as an amateur.

"With this platform we want to encourage the practice of running as a group or as a couple between women, which serves as motivation and provides the necessary security that many demand. Due to different conditions, this sport is less common among women today, unlike men, who are regulars to go running", explained Cristina Mitre.

According to the study presented, 83% of the women surveyed consider that area and time are the two aspects that most influence security when it comes to running alone. In addition, 28% say they have suffered some kind of harassment practicing this sport.

On the platform www.sincronizadas.com, active from today, the first meeting for runners in Madrid has already been scheduled, for next Sunday at 10:00h am at the entrance of the Retiro at the slope of Moyano, so that all runners who wish to do so, can go and train with Cristina Mitre.

"Running as a couple or group is proven to have many benefits, such as greater motivation and perseverance or learning new training practices, so we want to encourage all runners to join the platform," says Carmen Fernández, Brand, Marketing and Communication Director of EDP España. She adds: "In EDP we are aware of the importance of sport, and this platform is another step in our firm commitment to running".

The web platform allows you to build a runner profile based on geographical location and training areas, along with more technical data such as personal marks. From that moment, the runners can create "meet-ups" and join existing ones to go running with other women. The tool allows you to filter based on different criteria such as the date, the distance from the city to the meet-up, level, etc.

There is also a chat within each meeting where the runners can communicate and exchange information regarding the meet-up.

Through the "meet-ups" the platform allows runners to organize and meet other women to run as a group. There will also be special "meet-ups" sponsored by EDP with influencers and / or personalities, where there may be promotions or raffles for attendees.

And this is only the beginning, the platform will soon offer new features such as the evaluation of the meet-ups and ambassadors, surveys, english version and many more surprises.

EDP, the official energy of sport, is the main sponsor of the most important popular races in Spain. Every year it supports the more than 200,000 people who participate in the more than 30 races with which it collaborates (www.edpmaratones.es).
