Currently, EDP is already installed 52 facilities of this type in Asturias, both on highways and in urban environments

Colunga joins sustainable mobility. The City Council and EDP innaugurated the first charging point for electric vehicles on public roads of the council, within an agreement to promote and encourage the use of this type of vehicle.

At the unveiling of the recharging point, located on Calle Las Palmeras, were the mayor of Colunga, Rogelio Pando, and the Head of Sustainable Mobility of EDP España, Javier Izquierdo. Both made a demonstration of recharging an electric vehicle of the energy company.

For Javier Izquierdo, "Colunga is a strategic council and will have a very important role in the field of electric mobility. This new recharge point, added to those EDP installed in other locations in eastern Asturias, will cover the recharging needs of electric vehicle users."

The installation has a marked parking space. To perform the recharges, users have two options: to use the EDP sustainable mobility card, which can be requested through the website www.edpmoveon.com, or a mobile device, through the same website or from the mobile app 'EDP moveon' - currently for Android devices. Through the web or the mobile app you can also know the location of the points, the distance to them and their availability, among other features.

The use of the electric vehicle has many associated advantages, both environmental and economic. On the one hand, its use does not imply emissions or noise pollution. The savings, compared to combustion vehicles, can reach up to 80% - with 1.5 euros can travel 100 kilometers. On the other hand, the efficiency of these vehicles is three times higher than that of combustion, with a much lower maintenance cost.

The points closest to Colunga are located in Villaviciosa, where EDP has set up three facilities. In addition, EDP installed points in Ribadesella - in the AVIA service station, Cangas de Onís - in the public parking of Picos de Europa Street, and Peñamellera Alta - in the City Hall.

Currently, EDP has already installed 52 facilities of this type in Asturias, both on highways and in urban environments. For this, it reached different agreements with Asturian municipalities and other entities, such as service stations.

This extensive recharging network, both on express roads and in urban environments, provides Asturias with the necessary infrastructure to promote the use of electric vehicles. It is a network that complements the points that the users of these vehicles can install in their garages, where they perform the main recharging of the vehicle.

Sustainable mobility is one of EDP's priorities. This is one of the areas that will most impact the energy sector and will be essential for the decarbonisation of transport, representing a growing percentage of car sales in the world.
