130 university students, mainly from the University of Oviedo, received recognition today for having completed the Martín González del Valle 2019-20 Scholarships. Due to their effort and dedication, and adapting to the current public health scenario, the EDP Foundation has held this morning a 100% digital event. Facebook has been the chosen platform for an open emission with the participation of the Rector of the University of Oviedo, Santiago García Granda; and the Director of the EDP Foundation, Vanda Martins. Both have thanked the students for their attitude and have put the finishing touch to this 36th edition with their speeches.

The students have experienced a double challenge: their first experience in a company like EDP, and adapting to teleworking because of covid-19. Their time at EDP has been their first work experience and key to their incorporation into the labor world.

Thanks to this program, the most important of the University of Oviedo and endowed with almost one million euros, undergraduate and master's degree students from more than 20 specialties (including Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Law and Commerce and Marketing) complete their academic training with real experience. In many cases, the students complete up to 800 hours of training at EDP.

The initiative, which celebrates its 36th anniversary this academic year, is part of the activities promoted by the EDP Foundation in the educational field. It is named after Martín González del Valle, who chaired the energy company between 1987 and 1999, and since then was honorary president of the company and of the EDP Foundation until his death in 2015.

The Martín González del Valle Scholarships are remunerated and have a maximum duration of ten months. The internships are carried out in all areas of the company, under the supervision of tutors, who train and help the students. They also participate in innovation and continuous improvement programs, where they contribute with their ideas and share their experiences with the rest of the students.

In addition to the agreement with the University of Oviedo, the EDP Foundation has arrangements with other Spanish universities and schools to encourage the training of more students in the different facilities and work centers that the company has in other regions.

The aim of these scholarships is to facilitate practical training in EDP to students at the University of Oviedo and other universities in Spain. This is the most important internship plan of the University of Oviedo, as well as one of the most relevant initiatives developed by the EDP Foundation itself. Since its launch in 1983, more than 100 people who participated in the program have joined the staff of the EDP Spain Group.
