124 university students successfully complete their scholarship with EDP
The rector, Ignacio Villaverde; the CEO of EDP Spain, Ana Paula Marques; the director of the EDP Foundation, Vanda Martins, congratulated them for their effort throughout these months
The students from the University of Oviedo and from other nine universities that have participated throughout the scholar year in the scholarship program Martín González del Valle from the EDP Foundation have collected their diplomas in a ceremony that took place in the Historic Building of the University of Oviedo. This event counted with the interventions of the rector of the University of Oviedo, Ignacio Villaverde; the CEO of EDP Spain, Ana Paula Marques; the director of the EDP Foundation, Vanda Martins, and the head of the Recruitment of EDP Spain, Begoña Pérez, who applauded the effort made by the students during these training months. This scholar year 2022-2023, 124 students (84 from the University of Oviedo and 40 from the rest of Spain) joined, from 23 bachelors and 9 master’s degrees, and thanks to the scholarships of the EDP Foundation they were able to have a first contact with the business world. The degrees Business Administration and Management and different engineering bachelors stand out particularly.
The 124 students that lived their first work experience in EDP end thus their training program, which they started the past November. Since then, they carry out their paid internship, in the different departments and work centers of the company. Throughout this time, they have been supervised by the tutors of the company, that have guided their steps in the different projects in which they have gotten involved in diverse working areas.
The scholarship program of the EDP Foundation, provided with 800 000 euros, turns 39 years old this school year, and is the most important developed in the University of Oviedo. Apart from the students at the University of Oviedo, 40 students from other nine educative institutions have also participated this year: the University of the Basque Country, the CUNEF University, the UNIR, the ESIC Business & Marketing School, the University of Mondragón, the University of Cantabria, the University Miguel Hernández, the University of Zaragoza and the University Nova from Lisboa.
The scholarship program from the EDP Foundation was launched in 1983. It is named after Martín González del Valle, who led the energy company between 1987 and 1999, and was since then its president of honor, as well as from the EDP Foundation, until his passing in 2015. The Group EDP is acknowledged by the Top Employer Institute as one of the world’s best companies to work in. In the last three years, 250 new employees have joined EDP Spain.
