EDP allocates 20 000 euros in these installations and will start up another for point Guppy, the first car sharing in Asturia

The public parking of Salesas has just opened three charging points for electric vehicles. The new installations, that have a power of 7.5 kW, have been launched by EDP after reaching an agreement with the parking managers. The energy company has invested 20 000 euros and will also be in charge of its operation and maintenance.

The managers of the Parking of Salesas, Ignacio and Roberto Fernández, have carried out the first recharge in those points, joined by EDP’s director of New Businesses, Antonio González-Lamuño, and the chief of Sustainable Mobility of the company, Javier Izquierdo.

The installations are already part of EDP’s great network, that adds up more than 65 Asturian public spaces. They are in the -1 floor, count with signaled spaces and are available for all electric vehicle users.

In order to inform about their operation and to manage the charges, the innovative platform “EDP MoveOn” is available, both through the web www.edpmoveon.com, and the phone app for Android and iOS. Apart of charging, users may get to know the location of the company’s points, the distance to them, their availability and type of plug, among other functions. They can also do the recharge with the mobility card of the company.

To these three points, there is a fourth to be added, that will be used for Guppy vehicles, the first Asturian initiative towards “car sharing”, that will be operative in August.

The Parking of Salesas, with 1750 spots distributed in four floors, is one of the main parking lots in the center of Oviedo and communicates the main roads of the city with the pedestrian city center. It is open 24 hours a day and also has, from this moment on, specific parking spots for 24-hour subscribers with electric vehicle.

In Oviedo, EDP has another charging point, in one of the entries of the Engineering Schools of Mines, Energy and Materials, in the Independencia street.

The installation of these three new points reinforces EDP’s leadership in Asturias in electric mobility, with a great fast and semi fast recharging infrastructure, that covers the needs of electric cars’ users.

The electric vehicle is the only one with 0% emissions, and its use does not imply noise pollution. Its efficiency is three times superior to the one of motor vehicles, and, regarding the charging prize, the savings are of up to 90% in comparison to traditional cars.
