The chain of local supermarkets, specialising in quality fresh produce, is expected to consume 155 million kilowatt hours per year between all its points of sale and logistics centres, equivalent to the average consumption of 43,000 households.

Ahorramas has reached an agreement with EDP for the supply of electricity to all its facilities for the next 10 years.

The agreement covers the supply of 100% renewable electricity to all the company's supermarkets, logistics centres and headquarters. Specifically, more than 370 supply points. Between them, they have an annual consumption of more than 155 million kilowatt hours, equivalent to the average consumption of 43,000 households.

The long-term contractual modality provides very competitive energy prices in the volatile environment of the energy market, while at the same time offering greater visibility of energy costs. ACE - Servicios de Gestión de Energía participated in the negotiation as Ahorramas' manager and advisor.

Ahorramas, as part of its commitment to the environment and its sustainability strategy in terms of energy efficiency, meets, with this agreement, the objective of generating more than 50% of sustainable energy in its facilities and the reduction of 16,000 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere, equivalent to 727,000 trees. This initiative is part of the company's commitment to the environment and to Sustainable Development Goals 13 and 7 of the United Nations to combat climate change and its effects, on the one hand, and affordable and non-polluting energy, on the other, respectively.
