Tuesday 12, July 2016

Calidad Pascual consumed 100% renewable electricity during 2015, certified by the energy company EDP, with whom Calidad Pascual maintains the contract for the electricity supply of its installations.

The agreement that Calidad Pascual and EDP maintain consists of 39 installations, among factories and delegations, and an estimated consumption of 117 GWh per year. For Calidad Pascual, consuming 100% renewable energy reinforces its commitment with the environment and, at the same time, it promotes sustainability in all its production processes.

The 100% renewable origin of this electricity is determined by the Guarantee System for the Origin of Electricity, developed in 2007 by the Energy National Commission. The system is currently managed and overseen by the National Commission of Markets and Competence.

The close relationship between Calidad Pascual and EDP started in 2005 and since then, the alliance between both companies has allowed, besides energy supply, the implementation of different projects that make Calidad Pascual a leader company in efficiency and sustainability.

Among the different developed measures, there are: energy audits and the installation of charging points for electric vehicles. Calidad Pascual, as a company committed to the environment and sustainable development, is leader in the use of alternative energies vehicles in Spain and has the largest fleet of vehicles with ecological certification in Europe. The use of this sustainable fleet is part of Calidad Pascual’s Environmental Impact Management Plan, with which it intends to reduce de CO2 emissions coming from mobility by 20%. This Plan has the objective to improve the impacts that the company’s activity generates in the environment.

The relationship between EDP and Calidad Pascual also extends to Calidad Pascual’s employees, that can enjoy special conditions for the acquisition of electric vehicles.

For EDP, the partnership with Calidad Pascual implies a challenge for the effort of offering daily the best quality service, with economic stringency and offering guarantees of 100% renewable electricity. The several agreements reached during more than a decade with Calidad Pascual also reflect the high loyalty rate of EDP’s customers, which lies around 90%.
