Caritas Bizkaia, Red Cross Bizkaia and the EDP Foundation have signed a collaboration agreement regarding the project ‘Solidarity Energy 2019’. This initiative’s aim is to increase security, welfare and energy efficiency of families in disadvantaged situations and centers in the Basque Country where the signatory entities provide support.
The actions included in the program range from energy audits and technical inspections to the replacement of basic equipment (LEDs, radiators, boilers, etc.) and the EDP Foundation will allocate 30,000 euros for that purpose. Since 2015, it has invested more than 740,000 euros to the project ‘Solidarity Energy’, reaching more than 62,000 beneficiaries.
The signing of the agreement took place in Bilbao, with the participation of the general director of the EDP Foundation, Vanda Martins, the representative from the Red Cross Bilbao, Víctor Gutiérrez, and the representative from Caritas Bilbao, Carlos Bargos.
With this project, both social entities seek to analyze, identify and implement measures regarding the reduction of energy bills and the promotion of sustainable consumption habits in order to increase their social impact.
