These are happy times for trail running enthusiasts. The presentation of the Mountain Races, that will be part of the Asturian Grand Prix EDP 2020, and among which one may find the Asturian Cup and the Asturian Cup Cadet, Juvenile and Junior, was held on February 20 in La Casona de la Montaña (Oviedo) by the Asturian Sport Federation of Mountain, Climbing and Hiking (FEMPA).

With EDP as main sponsor, this year’s calendar presents a new format and several innovations from that of previous years. It has six races, starting with the Trail of Peñamayor, which is also the Clubs Competition, and the Cadet, Juvenile and Junior Competition; the Climb to Picu Pienzu, second race of the Cup; the Trail Cuarto de la Riera, third race of the Cup, and at the same time, an Online Competition; la Traveserina, fourth race of the Cup; the Quebrapates Peña Mea, fifth race of the Cup, and the Abeduriu Trail Race, sixth and last race of the Cup and the Speed Competition.

Another important innovation in this edition is the celebration of an Asturian Cup of Mountain Races for younger categories, which features five races, with adapted circuits in terms of distance and slope. The Trial of Peñamayor, the Climb to Picu Pienzu (only scoring for Junior category), the Trail Cuarto de la Riera, the Quebrapates and the Abeduriu Trail Race, are the races of this competitions aimed to younger enthusiasts.

On the other hand, the Ultra Competition for Mountain Races of the FEMPA will be held in EDP’s DesafiOSOmiedo.
