Desafía Dravet’ raised 5 700 euros in the race supported by the EDP Foundation
Almost 400 swimmers took part in the Swimming Crossing of the marina of El Abra-Getxo
The non-profit association “Desafía Dravet” (“Defy Dravet”), that promotes the scientific investigation of the Dravet disease and offers support and counseling to patients and their families, has achieved to raise 5 700 euros in the Swimming Crossing of the marina of El Abra-Getxo, race that counts with the support of the EDP Foundation.
Swimmers interested in participating, could do so in 4 different categories. The youngest covered a distance of 300 meters. In the absolute category, swimmers could choose between the 1.5 and the 3 km race, and lastly, the organization arranged a category for disabled people.
The earnings constitute an important boost for the association “Desafía Dravet”. The Dravet disease is an epileptic syndrome that affects one person in between 20 000 and 40 000 of the general population. Children suffering this syndrome have difficulties in their language and their motor skills and present convulsive crisis relatively often. Therefore, the association allocates its resources to help the families and to promote the investigation, in order to find a cure.
