The EDP Foundation and Liberbank joined by environmental education
They sponsor the project “Environmental informers in protected natural spaces” of the Fundación Oso de Asturias
The EDP Foundation and Liberbank have subscribed with the Fundación Osos de Asturias (FOA) the sponsorship agreement of the project “Environmental informers in protected natural spaces”. This project, which will be developed in July, August and September, will allow, in the framework of objectives of the FOA, the promotion of the conservation and protection of the protected natural spaces, specifically in the habitat of the Cantabrian brown bear in Asturias, as well as the awareness and environmental education.
The agreement was subscribed by the FOA director, José Tuñón; the general director of the EDP Foundation, Vanda Martins; and the director of Institutional Relations of Liberbank, Ana Echenique. Thanks to the support and sponsorship of the EDP Foundation and Liberbank, the FOA will have several environmental informers in key spaces such as the Bear Trail or the Natural Park of Somiedo, among others, who will advise visitors on responsible practices and civic behaviors in the natural world.
These informers will move all the time with electric vehicles, which they will charge in EDP’s points in the region, more than 60 installations in total. Moreover, they will make use of the dialogue with visitors in order to get to know their perception of the Cantabrian brown bear’s conservation, the observation tourism or the foundation’s activities. All of this information will be analyzed afterwards to obtain relevant conclusions and keep deepening in the dissemination of this knowledge.
Initiatives of this kind were developed last summer in some protected areas in other communities, with an outcome considered “excellent” by its organizers.
