The EDP Foundation sponsors the series “Suena la cúpula”
The violinist Jorge Jiménez will open the series organized by the Niemeyer Center, on October 27
The series of chamber music concerts of the Niemeyer Center returns in autumn, sponsored by the EDP Foundation. This year, five artists will get on stage on three different dates. The violinist Jorge Jiménez will lead the first recital, on October 27. Noelia Rodiles and Fernando Arias will perform on November 24 and the Asturian María Cueva and Paula Lueje will close the series, on December 29.
Jorge Jiménez will present at the Niemeyer Center his performance Contrapunctus, “a tribute to the violin” that has led him to perform in such picturesque venues as 16th century palaces in Barcelona, castles in Croatia, a disused warship in Amsterdam and even an abandoned power plant in Berlin.
In November, the pianist Noelia Rodiles and the cellist Fernando Arias will render two pieces from their next album: the Shostakovich sonata and the unknown Dohnányi sonata.
Lastly, the pianist María Cuevas Méndez and the singer Paula Lueje share the Añadas Project, which seeks the recovery and disclosure of the traditional lullaby songs that have survived thanks to oral tradition.
All the concerts of the series ‘Suena la Cúpula’ are programmed at 13 hours.
