Following the recent twinning between the ProEnglish Theatre in Kyiv and the EDP Gran Vía Theatre, yesterday, Monday, the Ukrainian actress and director Anabell Sotelo was in Madrid to perform the play "The Book of Sirens", a performance inspired by the current situation in her country and devised in the month of March, while they were taking refuge in the basement of their facilities in Kyiv.

During the solidarity performance, a solidarity applause was held with which, thanks to the meter of the EDP Gran Vía Theatre, which for years has had a system that transforms the sounds produced by the emotions during the performance (applause, cheers, laughter) into solidarity kilowatt hours, 243.04 kWh have been collected, a donation that will be translated into economic aid and sent to the Ukrainian population through the Smedia Foundation so that they can buy medicines, food and essential supplies on the spot for the population that is suffering the devastating effects of the war.

In these more than two months of conflict, the ProEnglish Theatre has not only become a refuge from war, but also a refuge for art and culture. For this reason, the EDP Gran Vía Theatre wanted to show its support with various solidarity actions, including hosting Anabell on its stage.

With this new action, EDP, the theatre's current sponsor since 2019, once again positions itself as the energy of the people.
