EDP has launched the program EDP Starter. It is an initiative that aims to help Spanish startups to develop their innovative ideas within the energy sector, with a special focus on the products’ development.

With EDP Starter, the company supports entrepreneurs since the identification of an initial idea until the acquisition of a shareholding, going through the creation of the prototype, development and pilot project.

Within this program, EDP has different support actions, like the EDP Open Innovation awards, that will be organizing their second edition this year, or EDP Ventures, through which the company invests in high potential projects that are already on development.

The program also carries out underpinning activities, like the active search of startups that are working on the innovation priorities of the company, and the maintenance of a portfolio for the selection of the most promising ones.

EDP Starter Acceleration Program

Moreover, EDP promotes intensive acceleration programs, in order to train entrepreneurs in technics of business development, and of creation of minimum viable product (MVP). The 2017 edition will take place in the Google Campus of Madrid in April and May. One of the advantages obtained by startups when participating in these intensive programs the counseling of EDP’s professionals, that help entrepreneurs to develop their innovative ideas.

The launching of this program, that counts with the collaboration of the company Beta-I, reinforces EDP’s engagement with the promotion of innovative ideas that favor the development of new products and energy solutions, oriented towards ensuring a common sustainable development.
