EDP will be the name title sponsor of the EDP Rock’n’Roll Madrid Marathon & ½ until 2018. The support of the energy company to Spain’s main popular race reinforces its commitment to sporting activities and healthy lifestyle, and at the same time boosts EDP Group’s support to the Spanish energy market.

The collaboration agreement was signed in Madrid by the general corporate and commercial director of EDP Spain, Javier Sáenz de Jubera, and the general director of the race, Pedro Rumbao. Both have highlighted the relevance of energy in sports, as well as the significant support for the race that is a sponsor like EDP, one of the main energy operators in Spain.

During the agreement’s signing one of the race’s mascot, Vera Ribera, was presented. It is one of the characters from EDP’s educational program “Viva Nuestra Energía”, in which more than 250,000 children from more than 1,000 Spanish schools have participated. The other character from the program that will cheer up the race will be Nano Solano.

The EDP Rock’n’Roll Madrid Marathon & ½ will take place next April 24. 34,000 people will run through Madrid’s streets in three distances: 15,000 in the marathon, 12,000 in the half-marathon and 7,000 in the 10 km. The registrations for the half-marathon and the 10 km are already sold out, and there are less than 3,000 race numbers left for participating in the marathon.

In the days previous to the race, April 22 and 23, the participants and their partners will attend Expodepor. In this Sports Fair, which will take place in Pavilion 12 in IFEMA, they will pick up their race numbers and get to know the latest news in the running world. EDP will also be there, which will inform about its energy offer and have games for the entire family, gifts and one of the main attractions of the Fair, the energy podium.

EDP is the energy of the people. More than 100,000 people participate each year in the more than 30 races that the company supports in Spain. It is a support that crosses borders, as the presence at Iberian level of the EDP Group is visible in other races such as the EDP Rock’n’Roll Lisbon Marathon.
