The energy company EDP, a world leader in renewable energies, has just opened up its first street level store for businesses. The office is situated in Granollers. This project has been developed together with SOELGAES, EDP’s exclusive sales agent in Catalonia, and it involves the opening of EDP’s first business store.

From today on, this new “customer office” will offer both small and large companies in the region and surroundings all the advantages of EDP solutions, customized according to the needs of each business, with a special focus on solar panel installations for companies. Self-supply solutions allow companies to produce and consume their own energy, thus reducing their bills and having no need for investments, since EDP oversees 100% of the initial investment. The opening of EDP’s first service store in Granollers will provide other benefits, such as the possibility for customers of having a sales agent who provides personal treatment and carrying out all their paperwork in person, as well as the direct creation of seven new jobs.

Self-supply, one of the energy solutions with the highest potential for savings both for businesses and manufacturers as well as for homes, also helps companies increase their efficiency and reduce their environmental impact.

In Catalonia, EDP is present with more than 5,000 photovoltaic installations, 700 million kWh of energy supplied to customers annually, 22 MW of installed wind power and a presence in electricity grids through the company Electra de Llobregat.

EDP carried out a study on the savings potential of companies in Catalonia thanks to its ability to build photovoltaic installations. In the case of Granollers, with almost 2,551 hours of sunshine per year and almost 1,000 individual businesses, 90.75% have enough space to accommodate photovoltaic installations. If solar panels were installed in all homes and businesses with enough roof surface, the energy savings would cover the average annual consumption of 80,595 households. In addition, the photovoltaic generation of these panels would make it possible to circumnavigate the world more than 850 times in an electric vehicle.
