Gijón hosts today at 19:30 a round tale about Aboño’s industry. It will be in the multipurpose hall of the Ateneo in La Calzada. It will be attended by the president of Talleres Alegría, José Carlos Alegría; the director of the Railway Museum, Javier Fernández; and the director of the Thermal Power Plant of Aboño, Rafael Cabañeros.
It is a complementary activity to the photographic exhibition “Aboño, history of a landscape and a region”, that was inaugurated on May 2 and will be open until May 31 in the Ateneo of La Calzada.
EDP’s presence in this area goes back to the sixties, when it received a license to construct a thermal power plant. Its launching, on March 15, 1974, entailed an important support for the development of the region.
Nowadays, and with the continues investments carried out by EDP, the thermal power plant of Aboño is one of the most efficient installations in Spain.
