EDP Spain joins Forética

It is a reference organization in sustainability and CSR in Spain.

EDP Spain continues going forward to reinforce its positioning in around the ESG criteria (Environment, Social, Government). The company has just joined Forética, the reference organization in sustainability and corporate social responsibility in Spain.

Through this adherence, the company will collaborate with the organization and share experiences with other companies. Moreover, it will be able to stablish strategic alliances with them to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Objectives.

Germán Granda, CEO of Forética, claims: “The incorporation of EDP Spain to Forética involves boosting the commitment with the environmental, social and governmental aspects, aligned with our strategy of increasing ambition, accelerating action and creating a solid network of alliances, along with our networks of partners and institutions with whom we collaborate.”

EDP, that supports 9 out of these 17 Sustainable Development Objectives, expects to contribute to his sustainability through the battle against climate change, with a free coal production  in 2025, and 100% renewable by 2030, at the same time that it promotes decarbonization of the consumption through new products, energetically efficient, like solar self-consumption, electric mobility or the development of green hydrogen, all of it with a positive impact in society and a strong governance structure based on ethic.

This adherence is aligned with the Strategic Plan 2021-2025 of Group EDP, that aims to boost the ESG positioning, assuming an ensemble of ambitious commitments with the goal of leading energy transition, creating thus value for all the interest groups of the company.

According to Yolanda Fernández, Environment, Sustainability, Innovation and Climate Change Director, “in EDP, the ESG strategy allows us to lead the energy transition, keeping a strong commitment with society and the environment, global challenge that multiply thanks to multisectoral alliances like the represented by Forética.”

Forética, that currently has more than 200 partners, is the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) representative in Spain and leads the Spanish Business Council for Sustainable Development, consisting of 15 Presidents and CEOs of the main Spanish companies. In addition, in Europe, it is CSR Europe national partner, and is part of the State Board for CSR in Spain.
