EDP Spain renews its EcoVadis platinum medal
- The energy company has scored 85 points out of a 100, earning its place among the top 1% worldwide for the second year in a row.
- This distinctive confirms EDP as the best utility and one the leading businesses in the platform for the evaluation of sustainability
EDP Spain has confirmed its position as one of the most sustainable companies in the energy sector. EcoVadis, the evaluation platform of choice for most European companies to look for providers who integrate sustainability into their value chains, has awarded the company its platinum medal, the greatest distinction they can give out, once again as an acknowledgment of the company’s achievements.
EcoVadis analyses ESG (Environmental, Social and Governmental) involvement based on various aspects, such as environmental management, work practice and human rights, business ethics and strategies for sustainable trade. In this 2023 evaluation, based on the results of the 2022 tax year, EDP Spain has scored 85 out of the 100 possible points, settling at the top 1% of those companies evaluated by EcoVadis and putting itself at the frontline worldwide in the field of sustainability.
Environmentally speaking, the company was awarded 90 points; the same goes for work practice and human rights: another 90 points; it got 60 points in ethics whereas the score for sustainable trade rose to 80 points. This goes to show EDP Spain’s engagement towards sustainability in all aspects of its activities and it adds up to other achievements of the company, already part of the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes (World and STOXX)
This evaluation highlights the extensive deployment of environmental matters; the aspect of work practice and human rights, as well as its reach into the value chain; the management of business ethics, anticompetitive practices, fraud or conflicts of interests, particularly the program of due diligence, and, finally, the thorough management of a sustainable supply in regard to social and environmental factors both. Likewise, EcoVadis tracks risks and realisation through external databases, known as 360º Watch, which didn’t find any infringements to alter the score during 2023.
Thus, EDP Spain is consolidated once more as the best utility and one of the leading companies in the platform for sustainability evaluation EcoVadis, improving its position in the ranking above other qualified clients that grow more committed to sustainability ever day.
This acknowledgement adds up to the one awarded by S&P Global CSA, setting EDP apart as the most sustainable electricity provider worldwide after getting the “best marks of its promotion” in climate strategies, ethics, innovation and trade opportunities among 256 businesses.
