Ellen MacArthur, winner of the Princess of Asturias Award for International Cooperation, discusses EDP’s circular economy
The award-winning took part in a conversation with Theresa Zabell and representatives of companies, institutions, and public administration.
“The enterprises not only understand the need of this change, but also realize increasingly what they should do to change”, claimed Ellen MacArthur, winner of the Princess of Asturias Award for International Cooperation, during her participation in a gathering with the representatives of companies, with whom she could discuss about sustainability and the need of change towards a more sustainable solution.
Ana Paula Marques, managing director of EDP, was in charge of welcoming her into an auditorium full of people, all of them interested in talking about circular economy, and committed to accelerate the transition towards it.
Theresa Zabell, two-time Olympic champion and president of the Ecomar Foundation, moderated an inspiring conversation, which was optimistic towards the future. The award-winner pointed out that “the deeper moment of my travel was that change from the straight line to the circle; when you think about what the circle in your life is, everything changes”.
EDP, committed with circular economy for almost 50 years, also embraces a change and a new energy. Moreover, the company may brag about sharing a purpose in the line of the philosophy that both EDP and its foundation promote in the whole world: the optimization of resources to build a better future for everyone.
