We are finalists in the Dircom Awards! The initiative EDP in the Metaverse, started in August 2022, during the 65th edition of the International Trade Fair of Asturias, is one of the selected proposals for the 6th edition of the Awards Dircom Ramón del Corral. These awards, given by the Association of Communication Managers, honor excellence and good practices in communication. More than 113 companies have presented 225 projects, and EDP in the Metaverse is one of the 68 finalists, in this case, in the category multimedia digital-support, in which it competes with two other initiatives.

The green hydrogen plant of EDP in the metaverse of ‘Decentraland’ is the first in this virtual world. In the game, EDP introduces a challenge for users to easily comprehend how to produce green hydrogen from renewable energy sources – wind and solar – and water. EDP in the Metaverse has received more than 15 000 visits that ‘produced’ 23 000 kilos of green hydrogen.

This fun and interactive proposal enables users to become familiar with EDP’s engagement with innovation, focused on green hydrogen as a key energy vector for the decarbonization of economy, as well as to get to know its unique and realistic project to transform its thermal power plants into strategic sites aimed for renewable energies. EDP’s leadership in energy transition consolidates thus even in the metaverse.
