The group Beluga becomes winner of the music contest EDP Live Bands 2019
The prize consists of acting live in the Festival NOS Alive 2019 and recording their first professional album with Sony Music
The musical group Beluga has been the winner of the EDP LiveBands2019, celebrated this weekend in the Cool Hall, in Madrid. The final of the contest, counted with the performances of six finalist groups, coming from the Community of Madrid, Extremadura and Castile-La Mancha.
Around 400 people have enjoyed the live performances, as well as a special act by Vermú, winner of the first edition of the competition.
The final had a professional jury composed by Catarina Varella, from Everything is New; Ramón Bobes, from EDP; Daniel López, from Mondo Sonoro; Sandra G. Pantoja, from Sony Music; and Mónica Caballero, from Vetusta Morla.
This contest aims to promote music from amateur national groups that want to make a name for theirselves in the musical scene. Since its beginning, it has counted with the participation of more than 270 Spanish groups that did not maintain commercial links with record labels.
Beluga and the winner bands in the editions of Portugal and Brazil, will get the chance to perform live in the Festival NOS Alive from Lisbon 2019 (July 11, 12 and 13), and to record their first album with Sony Music.
EDP LIVE BANDS
This is the second edition of this musical contest, which arrived in Spain last year, after its great success in Portugal since 2014 and in Brazil since 2016.
Since the launching of this initiative in 2014, EDP has promoted the music of more than 6 400 amateur groups, boosting their careers with performances in festivals with great international projection, and with discs recordings. Alone in Spain, EDP has supported the music of more than 600 bands between the two editions.
This initiative reinforces EDP’s role as the official energy of music, and its commitment with promoting national and international music.
