Makro acquires the electricity supply from EDP
The agreement, signed for the upcoming 3 years, involves the supply of 80.5 GWh per year to 38 points of the leading company in wholesale distribution to the hotel and catering industry in Spain.
EDP will be the electric energy supplier to Makro the following 3 years. The leading firm in wholesale distribution to the hotel and catering industry has signed a contract with the energy company for the supply of all its stores in Spain, as well as its multi-temperature distribution platform in Catalonia.
The agreement reached by these companies involves the supply of 80.5GWh per year, that is, the equivalent to the average annual consumption of more than 20 000 households, to 38 supply points of the company.
Makro, that arrived in Spain five decades ago, leads the sector of wholesale distribution in the country, and has a large stores’ net located in 25 Spanish provinces of 15 autonomous communities. Apart form the multi-temperature distribution platform located in Catalonia, specifically in El Prat de Llobregat, Makro has other two in Getafe (Madrid) and Quer (Guadalajara), as well as a distribution center in Getafe.
This contract, that starts on January 1, 2023, frames within EDP’s Strategic Plan 2021-2025, and the commercial strategy with its entrepreneurial clients. The company is a role model for great electric energy consumers from all over Spain, boosting their savings and competitivity with personalized energy solutions.
