The Festival de Fado has once again brought together first-class artists, films, conferences and workshops that help to understand the mysteries of fado. This year’s edition, sponsored by EDP, has been focused on the theme “Fado and arts”, as a sign of the transversality of a genre that goes beyond music, influencing cinema, literature, art and photography.

Three concerts held in the Sala Roja of the Teatros del Canal have stand out as renowned events. There, three generations of fado have come together through the most prominent representative of one of them: Raquel Tavares, Gisela João and Camané.
EDP has contributed to bring this festival closer to the general public with a ticket raffle in social media. Moreover, the company was present with a photocall, that enabled attendants to take a photographic memory with the most recognizable elements of this music style.
The music program has also count with other activities like the conferences of the Doctor in Art and Patrimony, Sara Pereira, and the famous illustrator and comic author, Nuno Saravia. The Cines Doré have also projected the “Fado” tapes of Bento Mântua and “El fado y el cine de animación”, from various authors specialists in cinematographic animation. During the three days of this event with the Portuguese culture, it was also possible to visit, in the Teatros del Canal, the exhibition “O Fado na Arte Portuguesa”, produced by the Museo del Fado and by the EGEAC.
