Seville is enthusiastic about the celebration of the EDP Seville Half Marathon
The sporting event sets the participation record, bringing together more than 10,500 participants to celebrate its 25th anniversary
The celebration of the twenty-fifth edition of the EDP Seville Half Marathon, with thousands of participants and people on the streets despite the cold weather and the heavy fog, has been a milestone for the city.
The Italian runner Eyob Faniel was proclaimed winner of the men’s category with a timing of 1 hour and 44 seconds, breaking the race’s record and overcoming the Ethiopian runner Kasahy Atsebha Kasa (1:00:46) by only two seconds with a spectacular sprint. The podium was completed by another Ethiopian athlete, Agunafr Bekel (1:01:15).
In the women’s category the victory was for the Polish Izabela Trzaskalska, with a timing of 1 hour, 11 minutes and 9 seconds. The second place was for the Spanish Marta Galimany, who broke her own record with a timing of 1 hour, 11 minutes and 13 seconds. The British Lilly Partridge finished third (1:11:31).
On another note, Joaquín García won again in the category for people with reduced mobility, with a timing of 58 minutes and 6 seconds. José A. Ballesteros and José V. Aguilar took the second and third place respectively.
Moreover, the race was attended by the renowned national athlete Martín Fiz, who ran with Micaela Pedrowicz, winner of an EDP raffle that allowed her to fulfill a dream by enjoying this experience next to the world and European marathon champion. “The challenge of running next to someone such as Martín Fiz has been a turning point in my recent passion, nothing will ever be the same” said Micaela, who finished the race in 1:47:10.
With the support to this race, EDP shows once again its commitment to sport.
