EDP and Atresmedia Publicidad join to celebrate the San Silvestre all over Spain
On December 31, the more than 1 200 San Silvestre races that are annually celebrated in our country will be part of an only online movement, “San Silvestre, the energy that joins us”
Given the evolution of the sanitary indicators, none of the more than 1 200 San Silvestre races that are celebrated each year in our country can be run on site. Therefore, EDP and Atresmedia Publicidad have joined forces to start up a new initiative, “San Silvestre, the energy that joins us”. A virtual movement that will enable that all Spain’s San Silvestre races are run online, providing the needed tools and mechanisms to allow all those who desire it, to bid the year farewell, and attending one more year to their traditional date.
According to the II Energy Study of the San Silvestre, carried out by the energy company EDP, each year, more than 700 000 runners decide to bid the year farewell running, participating in one of the more than 1 200 races celebrated in our country.
Starting today and until the day of the competition, December 31, all those who desire to end the year running, may register to enter the San Silvestre that they want to run, from all over Spain, through the web www.lasansilvestre.com . Each runner can choose the San Silvestre in which they want to participate, regardless of the place where they are. Moreover, they can choose the distance to run, 5 or 10 km, from 8.00 am till 21.00 pm of that day.
The goal of this initiative is to achieve that thousands of runners take part in the traditional race, as done each year, apart from supporting the organizers of the hundreds of local competitions in such difficult times. Therefore, the movement promoted by EDP and Atresmedia Publicidad, commits to donate the 20% of each runner’s inscription to the local race that they have selected.
Carmen Fernández, director of Brand and Communication of EDP, states: “Last year we began the Energy Movement of San Silvestre, making a documental and the first study of this social phenomenon that brings each year hundreds of thousands of people together. This year, more than ever, we had to continue with this project and stand by the side of all those organizers of San Silvestre races that this year have even more complicated their celebration. For this reason, together with Atresmedia Publicidad, we have launched this project that enables that all San Silvestre’s races in Spain take place, and that everyone can bid the year farewell in the best way, sharing their energy running.”
For his part, Pablo López-Brujas, director of Atresmedia Publicidad Events, comments how “he saw the need of giving an answer to the thousands of runners from all over Spain that this year were going to have to stay home, without enjoying a settled tradition like the San Silvestre. And we could not find a better partner for this purpose than EDP, with which we quickly saw that we shared the same philosophy of support to the runners and organizers of the San Silvestre races in these complicated circumstances.”
Like in every popular race, the San Silvestre will also count with its exclusive technic t-shirt from the sport brand Luanvi. The procedure to get it will be the following: during the inscription process, optionally and through a previous payment of 10€, an exclusive t-shirt may be requested (to choose among several colors), that will be delivered during the days prior to the race. Furthermore, for all of those that do not desire to purchase the t-shirt, they can participate in the San Silvestre that they choose for free, just by registering in the web and downloading the App Carreras EDP (that will work as a chip to record de distance ran) and going to run on December 31.
