Acuerdo EDP y El Corte Inglés

El Corte Inglés allies with EDP to offer solar panels for households

Tuesday 06, April 2021

EDP will oversee the installation and will carry out all the necessary permit and management applications for its legalization and launching.

El Corte Inglés has reached an agreement with the energy company EDP to offer its customers, for the first time, solutions of photovoltaic self-consumption, through the installation of solar panels. This initiative will enable to favor energy saving in households and to improve its sustainability in the renewable energies’ field. This new service, that allows customers to save up to 70% of their electricity consumption, is carried out through the integral decoration system of El Corte Inglés, Decor | Studio.

With this agreement, “Decor | Studio” extends its activity and offers integral solutions for energy savings and sustainability through the self-consumption suggestion of EDP Solar. The service will be offered in the 47 centers of El Corte Inglés in which “Decor | Studio” operates in Spain. All the information about this self-consumption solution in households, as well as the possibility to carry out an appointment reservation with an adviser, is available in https://www.elcorteingles.es/hogar/decor-studio/energia-solar/

El Corte Inglés offers with this service a “turnkey” solution, adapted to the needs of each client, in which EDP will be in charge, once the contracting is formalized, of verifying the technic viability of the installation, the management of the appropriate permits, the execution and the launching, and the process of legalization of the installation. Likewise, it will advice the customer, so that he can benefit from the available tax credits and subsidies, depending on his place of residence.

Those who hire this solar panels’ service will be able to monitor them in real time, where and when they want, in any mobile device or through EDP’s app. They will be able thus to know in detail the energy generated by their solar installation and the consumption that they have in their home coming from the electric network, so that they can optimize their energy expenditure. The facilities have a maintenance service, and the lifespan of the solar panels may go over 30 years.

The customers interested in this energy self-consumption solution may apply for project financing for the installation of solar panels through Financiera El Corte Inglés.

This new collaboration between the two companies is based on facilitating and supporting an energy transition towards more efficient consumption, based on renewable and unlimited energies, like solar. The partnership frames in the close relation that El Corte Inglés and EDP keep as strategic partners since 2003.

This investment in solar panels for self-consumption generates savings that can represent up to 70% of the consumption of the electricity bill. As an example, a single-family home that has this solution can go over 600€ of annual savings in its electric consumption, as well as avoiding an emission of more than 2 000 kg of CO2 into the atmosphere, which would equal to the planting of 167 trees.
