The ENTAMA programme, recognised for its commitment to sustainability, aims to generate employment and wealth in rural areas.

The energy company EDP, world leader in renewable energy, has been awarded in the third edition of the Go!ODS Awards for the ENTAMA project, as the initiative that best contributes to the fulfilment of SDG 11: sustainable cities and communities.

The Go!ODS Awards, organised and managed by the Spanish Network of the United Nations Global Compact, recognise and support innovative projects that contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. These goals set out specific targets to be achieved over the next decade to ensure prosperity for all as part of a new sustainable development agenda.

The ENTAMA project aims to generate wealth, employment and rural population fixation, through support for local proposals with the capacity to generate added value and economic growth in a sustainable and forward-looking manner. Thus, EDP has promoted tourism initiatives, organic farming and care for the elderly.

For María Casares, EDP's Director of Sustainability, "this recognition reinforces our social investment plan, in which we work to leave no one behind in the energy transition we are undergoing. With ENTAMA, we support rural entrepreneurs to carry out their projects, but we go beyond that, because this means contributing to the generation of wealth, employment and population in these environments".

The project has been running for three editions and is being developed in Asturias. In its latest edition, the company has created the Entama Network, through which other companies can join to support entrepreneurial projects. The first company to join as a partner is Masymas, the supermarket chain with 100% Asturian capital, which joins the EDP project with an additional contribution of €20,000 to support projects that are mainly of an agri-food nature.

The ENTAMA project is aligned with the 2030 Agenda and has a direct impact on SDG 11, through the promotion of employment in conditions of equal opportunities and inclusion, supporting the launch of sustainable projects in the rural world.
