EDP takes part in a forum about green hydrogen organized by the European Commission
The company presents its opinion about future support mechanisms to hydrogen projects
EDP has taken part in the European Hydrogen Forum of the European Commission. The conference, that has taken place in Brussels and has developed in the framework of the European Clean Hydrogen Alliance, has helped to make a point about the green hydrogen situation and its regulation in the continent, as well as to get to know the developments of several companies.
For EDP’s part, the director of Regulation of the Hydrogen Unit, José Manuel Pérez, has participated in a panel titled “Solving the chicken or egg problem, the connection between the production and the hydrogen demand”. Pérez has underlined the need to continue supporting hydrogen projects, like EDP is doing in order to transform its thermal power plants.
Three EDP’s projects have been recently declared Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEI Hy2Use) to be financed, as they are considered strategic for the energy transition. EDP has been the company with more selected projects: Aboño (Asturias), Los Barrios (Cadiz) and IAM Caecius (Teruel). In total, 225 MW of electrolyzers to generate and supply green hydrogen.
The recognition highlights the strength of the projects presented by EDP and the firm commitment of the company to lead energy transition, through realistic projects to transform its thermal power plants into locations linked to renewable energies, green hydrogen, energy storage and flexibility of the electric system.
