The 1st Regatta of hot-air-balloon begins in Gijón | EDP España

2017 is the year chosen to regain the spirit of the first hot-air-balloons festival that took place in Gijón back in 1979, within the sport complex of Las Mestas. Between June 1 and 4, 23 hot-air-balloons will fly over the city and participate in different activities, framed within the 1^st Regatta of hot-air-balloons of Gijón.

The Regatta, that begins on Thursday 1, being the first flight at 19.30, is organized by Volar Asturias, company engaged in flights by hot-air-balloons, with the Club of Balloons and Airships of Gijón. The goal is to make the city once again an unavoidable date in the calendar, and EDP’s balloon will also be taking part in the Regatta.

The flights that are expected, always depending on the weather, are the following:

Thursday, June 1^st

First flight – 19.30

Friday, June 2^nd

Second flight – 10.30

Third flight – 19.00

Night – Glow (in the Solarón) – 21.30 arrival of the hot-air-balloons

Saturday, June 3^rd

Fourth flight – 11.00

Fifth flight – 19.30

Sunday, June 4^th

Last flight – 11.00

The prize awarding will take place on Sunday 4, at 13.30, in the Abba Hotel (Abba Sky).
