On Saturday, September 15, 330 cyclists enjoyed the VI Marcha Solidaria Monte Areo BTT. Fundación EDPsponsors this race, which consists of a mountain bike tour in Guimarán (Carreño, Asturias) coinciding with local festivities.

The mountain bike group Monte Areo is the organizer of this solidarity march, which has been running uninterrupted since 2013 aiming to raise funds in favor of the Asociación Padre Galván and the investigation of childhood cancer.

In this edition, more than three hundred participants enjoyed two itinerary options, of 26 and 52 kilometers with an accumulated altitude of 1,000 meters. Among those enrolled were several EDP employees supporting the race.

Monte Areo belongs to the council of Carreño and is a small hill near the thermal power station of Aboño that has, among other things, a group of dolmens, and is a confluence of historical roads the Camino de Santiago Primitivo or the Gran Recorrido de la Ruta de la Plata, in its beginning from Gijón towards the exit to the plateau. With this new edition, the VI March of Monte Areo BTT reinforces its relevance.
