95 students at the University of Oviedo will complete their training in EDP
The scholarships are paid and have a duration of up to 10 months, which enables them to cover 800 hours
The scholarships program Martín González del Valle is already in progress. During this course, 95 students from the University of Oviedo will complete their academic training in different areas and centers of EDP. The Foundation of the energy company allocates to this initiative almost 1 M euros each year, and is, in most cases, the first incorporation of students to the professional world.
The welcome day of the scholarship program has taken place in the Faculty of Teachers’ Formation and Education, in the Campus of Llamaquique, Oviedo. There, the director of the Area of Students’ Attention of the University of Oviedo, Gemma Martínez, and the director of the EDP Foundation, Vanda Martins, have presented the program to the students, to whom they have encouraged to take this opportunity to put in to practice and expanding their knowledge.
During this day they have received a training about the activities carried out by Group EDP and the politics that it develops in fields like information security, environment and prevention of occupational risks.
Students will be incorporating to their departments the following October 24. They will carry out their internships in all areas of the company, that is the corporative, as well as in generation, distribution and commercialization.
The scholarships are paid and have a duration of up to 10 months, which allows them to cover 800 hours. Each student will have a tutor, that will supervise their training during the program.
After the appliance period, in September, the University of Oviedo selected 95 students, from more than 20 specialties, from the different Faculties and Schools, as well as students that are doing a Master. Among the degrees, there is Electric Engineer, Chemistry, Economics or Law.
Apart from the agreement with the University of Oviedo, the EDP Foundation keeps agreements with other Spanish universities and schools to favor the training of students in the installations and work centers that the company has in other communities.
The scholarship program Martín González del Valle aims to ease the internship in EDP to students from the University of Oviedo. It is the most noticeable internship plan from the University, as well as one of the most important initiatives developed by the Foundation itself. Since its launching in 1984, more than 100 people that took part in the program have joined the staff of Group EDP Spain.
