EDP takes part in the 5th Meetup ECO Asturias
The energy company presented the EDP, EDP Renewables and El Corte Inglés pioneering project based on “blockchain” technology to guarantee the energy’s renewable origin
The 5th Meetup ECO Asturias took place on March 4 in Gijón, organized by the multi-sector blockchain technology consortium Alastria. In this meeting, the different challenges that this system can help to solve were made known. There was also a brainstorm of ideas and difficulties aimed at establishing synergies and creating a cooperative ecosystem.
Blockchain technology consists of a distributed registration system that promotes data decentralization, transparency and integrity through a blockchain. In this occasion, the meeting addressed the latest innovations in blockchain developed in Asturias. Enrique Menéndez, who is responsible for EDP’s Innovation Projects, presented the joint project of EDP, EDPR and El Corte Inglés to ensure the traceability of renewable generation in real time.
