Camerata Revillagigedo opens its cycle of Christmas concerts in Mieres

The concert will be directed by maestro José Fernández Avello.

Camerata Revillagigedo offers, this Sunday, December 17, at 7:00 p.m., a concert at the Church of San Juan de Mieres. This is the first recital within the cycle of four concerts, sponsored by the Fundación EDP, which the choral group has scheduled for this Christmas in Asturias.

The concert will be directed by maestro José Fernández Avello, who will be accompanied by pianist Rosario Álvarez Fernández. The choral group will perform thirteen songs, among which are traditional Christmas carols and songs like 'Mírala como se va', by Carlos Guastavino; 'A la gala del zagal', by José Ignacio Prieto; 'Over the rainbow', by Harold Arlen; and 'A merry Christmas', by Irving Berlin.

The next concerts will take place on Friday the 22nd, starting at 8:30 p.m., in the Parish Church of Infiesto; Friday 29 at 8:30 p.m. in the church of San Pedro, in Grado; and on Saturday the 30th at 8:30 p.m., in the church of Santo Tomás de Canterbury, in Avilés.

Camerata Revillagigedo, created in 1993, is one of the most recognized choral groups of the Principality of Asturias. It is a choral project that was born together with the International Center for Contemporary Art Palacio de Revillagigedo, with a repertoire linked to the 20th century, including works by the most prominent contemporary polyphonists, both Spanish and foreign.
