Cáritas Asturias and Fundación EDP renew their commitment in "Energía Solidaria"

The NGO will collaborate with Fundación EDP improve the efficiency of households of families in vulnerable situations

Cáritas Asturias and Fundación EDP wed their collaboration in theEnergía Solidariainitiative.Driven by the Fundación EDP, it aims to increase safety, comfort and energy efficiency of vulnerable families and centers of the NGO partners, such as Caritas and the Red Cross.

The collaboration agreement was signed in Oviedo by the director of Cáritas Asturias, Ignacio Alonso; and the executive director of Fundación EDP, Vanda Martins. Both entities collaborate in "Energía Solidaria" since the start of the initiative, in 2015.

Through this agreement, Caritas Asturias will identify individuals, families or institutions who may be beneficiaries of the actions that are part of "Energía Solidaria", as energy audits, technical inspections, procedures for energy certificates and replacement of equipment such as lighting, radiators and boilers. All improvement actions are carried out by EDP essionals.

By 2018, Fundación EDP allocate a total of 162,000 euros to "Energía Solidaria", which will be distributed between Asturias, the Basque Country, Cantabria, Madrid and La Coruña.

In 2017, the improvements put into effect allowed an average annual energy saving of 17% in the energy consumption of the people, families and centers that participated in the initiative.

Since the launch in 2015, Fundación EDP cated more than 437,000 euros to "Energía Solidaria", implementing improvements in the housing of 178 families and 32 schools, benefiting 22,500 people.
