Ecodes and the EDP Foundation will train unemployed people in energy consulting
• The course is free, lasts 120 hours, and seeks to generate a new professional profile of energy advisor for homes
• The students will counsel 20 vulnerable homes to reduce their energy bills and 10 houses will be rehabilitated
The Joaquín Roncal Center in Saragossa will host between February 17 and March 25 a course on energy consulting to families intended for the unemployed. It is a formation promoted by Ecodes and the energy company EDP’s Foundation, which seeks to generate a new professional profile of energy advisor for vulnerable homes, with multidisciplinary expertise in low-cost rehabilitation, contract optimization, training in efficient consumption habits and self-consumption.
The course consists of 8 modules distributed in 120 hours. It will be taught in the morning (from 9.00 to 13.30) by Ecodes technicians and with the attendance of experts. The enrollments can be made through this form, the email ecodes@ecodes.org and the telephone number 976 29 82 82. The formation has a practical part. The students will visit 20 homes, where they will have to recommend improvements in consumption habits, contract optimization, micro-energy efficient materials, and low-cost rehabilitation solutions.
Moreover, these low-cost solutions will be implemented in 10 homes of families in vulnerable situations. Ecodes and the EDP Foundation will bear the cost of these interventions.
With this formation, Ecodes and the EDP Foundation seek to improve employment opportunities in groups with specific difficulties, such as young people, women and long-term unemployed; contribute to the reduction of energy vulnerability in Aragón; improve the domestic economy of vulnerable families through energy saving; improve comfort in the attended homes and reduce CO2 emissions to combat climate change. In total, this project will benefit more than 170 people.
Once the formation is over, Ecodes will boost the new profile’s demand among companies and administrations to favor employment.
This course is the result of a project that Ecodes presented to the 2019 edition of EDP Solidaria, under the name: “Promotion of green and social employment to cope with energy vulnerability in Spanish homes”.
EDP Solidaria is an EDP Foundation’s initiative, that promotes entrepreneurship and boosts projects from different entities to improve vulnerable persons’ wellbeing and quality of life. In 2019, the EDP Foundation allocated 600,000 euros to 18 projects. The deadline for the presentation of the 2020 projects will open on March 1.
