EDP awarded in the IX ASOCAS Industrial Safety Awards

The jury valued the actions taken in the adaptation of facilities to the new standards, as well as the collaboration in improving the quality of inspections

ASOCAS, Asociación de Organismos de Control y Afines del Principado de Asturias, organized the IX Edition of the ASOCAS Industrial Safety Awards held in the Aula Magna of the Polytechnic School of Engineering of the University of Oviedo, located in the Campus of Viesques de Gijón.

The jury agreed to award the prize in the category of companies with more than 250 workers to EDP, in recognition of "the effort made to adapt old facilities to the new industrial safety standards" through the design and implementation of inspection coordinated with the control agencies and the Administration of the Principality. Collaborations that EDP maintained with ASOCAS for the improvement of the quality of the inspections were also valued, among which the intercomparison exercises in atmospheric measurements in the Aboño thermal plant and the collaboration in the inspection work in the transformation centers and centralization of meters. The general comercial director of EDP, Javier Sáez de Jubera, collected the award on behalf of the company.

These awards aim to recognize a continued trajectory in the promotion and implementation of good practices in the field of safety and industrial quality, as well as the contributions made in this field by professionals or entities. Likewise, it recognizes the promotion of an organizational culture that allows the development of new projects in a safe and environmentally responsible way, promoting innovation and continuous improvement in this field and highlighting especially an environmental policy "aimed at avoiding or minimizing the environmental impact associated with the activity ".

The awards, which in this edition also recognized the preventive work of the company Fuensanta, have the sponsorship of the Government of the Principality through the Ministry of Employment, Industry and Tourism, and the collaboration of the Asturian Federation of Employers (FADE) , Polytechnic School of Engineering of the University of Oviedo and Caja Rural.
