The EDP Foundation receives the “Tulipán de Oro” award of the Asturias Parkinson Association
The organization has acknowledged the shown sensitivity, promoting initiatives that foster the improvement of the quality of life, the reduction of inequalities and the progression towards a fairer, more equitable and socially responsible society
The Asturias Parkinson Association has granted the EDP Foundation with the 2019 “Tulipán de Oro” award. The ceremony took place this morning at the Oviedo Asturian Center and was attended by Nerea Eguren, General Director of Planning, Management and Social Innovation; Antonio Molejón, General Director of Public Health; Enrique Fernández, Mayor of San Martín del Rey Aurelio; Marisa Ponga, Area Councilor of Attention to People and Equality of the City Council of Oviedo; and Teresa Iglesias, Councilor of Social Welfare of the City Council of Mieres.
The Asturias Parkinson Association has highlighted the awareness shown by the EDP Foundation, as well as its support and promotion of initiatives that improve the quality of life of the people affected by the disease, and its commitment to reduce inequalities and move towards a fairer, more equitable and socially responsible society.
The award ceremony had a special relevance, as it coincided with the celebration of the World Parkinson’s Day.
The Asturias Parkinson Association has equally taken the opportunity to claim that the disease has a stronger role in the public agenda, and that quality social and sanitary attention for people is ensured. Recent studies show that in 2040 around 12 million people in the world will have Parkinson.
